Does anyone else have severe problems with vacuum cleaners? I seem to end up tripping, getting them stuck, the hose tangled and end up having a melt down. PLUS the noise drives me up the wall! I’ve never come across this being an Aspie problem and was wondering if others have the same issue?

My Mum usually uses the brush to save electricity. We do have one. Yes... They do get stuck round corners and they are noisy!

i had a sorta soft night mare [a night pony?] the other night about a malfunctioning vacuum cleaner that would only turn on after the mess i wanted to vacuum cleaned itself up. worthless POS. my sister has blown up at least one vacuum cleaner. machines don't especially like her for some reason. as for the noise, i always wear hearing protection while using them.

I don't like the sound, but have no trouble with the hardware. I usually use a carpet sweeper, but sometimes create a tandem machine with the carpet-beater of one appliance and the suction of another. It takes two hands, and I have to organize the power cords, but it works fine. Sometimes I clean my workshop by leaving a vacuum cleaner running to filter the air while I blow the dust off of the shelves, etc.

Viqueen, if it will make you feel any better, i can relate the story of my mom telling my 6th grade teacher about how i plugged my ears and ran whenever she ran the vacuum cleaner, and he promptly blabbed it to my 6th grade class and ridiculed me.

The noise of vacuum cleaners is one of the worst noises.

I have a pair of good ear protectors hanging on the vacuum cleaner when not in use so I always know where they are. All that noise adds stress.

I am not sure how those ear protectors work.... I tried putting them on the vacuum cleaner but they didn't seem to make a difference?

I said that as a joke... I don't actually put ear protection on our vacuum cleaner.

I don’t like the noise they make, and they can be heavy to lug up and down the stairs. I’m glad that I don’t currently have carpet!
