Repetitive Writing of Words/Letters

So maybe this is just kind of weird but I notice that when I take notes in a lecture/meeting or something I tend to stop paying attention and just write down certain words in my notebook over and over and over and over..... Or it might be words with certain letters in them. I will kind of get obsessed with either a word or a letter and will just write it all over the page. For example I like the way a capital 'J' looks so I will end up writing things like 'Janis Joplin' on an entire page of a notebook. Maybe its just my form of doodling or something? Anyone else do something similar?

PS: I notice this in notebooks from when I was much younger too.

Not individual words or letters, but I used to have an obsessive habit of making lists when bored. Lists of albums of my favorite bands, lists of movies in a series, lists of characters in video games, lists of the books of my favorite authors, etc.

I actually remember getting in trouble in grade school once because one of my teachers saw that I had been writing the word "fatality" over and over on a piece of paper, and she took it and sent it to my parents. It was more innocent than it sounds – I had been writing a list of the fatalities in one of the Mortal Kombat video games, from memory.

When I was in 3rd-4th grade and using cursive I would write my signature over and over on graded papers. Nowadays I focus more on designs than words. For example, I will often draw the same spiral pattern over and over, or darken the corner of a sheet of paper with ink.

I have a horrible habit of doodling--particularly in classes that are trying on my senses. If I am interested AND comfortable, I am able to take notes, but in those classes that are slightly boring or even if they are not boring but the classroom is putting me into sensory overload (or even just sensory irritation), I start doodling all over my paper. It is partly voluntary, but I have trouble stopping once it stops. The only way is to take my pen away, and then even then, I need to stim somehow or else I will go into overload. Some of this "doodling" is words. My name is a frequently written obsessively in many different ways throughout my notebooks. Also, I love cursive capital Ls, and so sometimes I just repeatedly write out conjoined capital cursive Ls all over the place.

Wow, I used to do the exact same thing. Literally EXACT. Growing up some kids that saw it thought it looked "girly" and I'd get teased for it. I think it looks cool

I would do the exact same thing! I have many, many notebooks filled with just lists of stuff. I love lists for some reason.
I also do the repetitive word writing thing. I can’t think of any particular examples, but I know that I do it.
