Religion depresses me for no reason. Thinking about college depresses me. Thinking about the end of the world, the prices of houses going up, the environment and s**t depresses me. Well, not the environment, really. Thinking about life two centuries ago and whatnot depresses me too. And that's one of my mother's favorite topics!

The thought of losing pets and people close to me depresses me.

There is a point which I reached in my twenties where I become totally aware of the current state of the planet. While everyone else carries on eating and burning all our resources with no thought for the future.

Then I realised that for every crap story on the tv, there are a million positive things happening every single day. All you have to do is switch off, log on and join in. Here's a couple of my favourite places for good news:

http://www.ted.com
http://science.reddit.com/

And religion depresses me too. 3,000 years and no evidence. This is the 21st century for goodness sake!

Oh yeah, Victorian England depresses me, darkness depresses me, and being stuck in a room with people watching TV depresses me. TV isn't enough for me; I'd rather be doing something. I can be doing somthing just as exciting or more exciting than what other people are doing on TV.

I now blissfully now have a TV free house. I've chucked it in the studio as a games monitor. It's amazing how full your life can be when do don't watch TV. I take it you are in the Northern Hemisphere and in the depths of winter now. I send you southern sunshine and sympathy. I hated being in the UK for winters and always got really down. February was my worst month.

It was the lack of sunlight that affected my moods really badly. Then I found the magic of St John's Wort as a mid winter pick me up. It's sunshine in a jar for me. I take the extra strength prolonged released ones for a few days and boing - insta happy. Obviously check with your doc before self medicating, but my dr in NZ says it's better than prozak for mild blues and they use it a lot in Switzerland. It does however make your skin sun sensitive so I never take it in the summer.

Are you suggesting we feed dogs' clothes to starving children?

I understand, though. Plus, does the dog even like it?

Thanks for the sunshine... I need it... I also like your "sunshine in a jar" analogy. I read that you're not supposed to be taking anything else if you take St. John's Wort... I'm on Celexa, and it works, just not enough sometimes, but usually it does... I might need Ritalin as well. :)

You know, I wouldn't say that's "no reason", a lot of those things sound like they could be scary. Thinking about money always depresses me. :pale:

Watching shows like CSI and Law & Order depresses me. My mom loves those shows, unfortunately.
