Do men or women on the spectrum have it harder? I’m a woman on the spectrum and have it harder. Most guys I know on the spectrum are all the same. I’ve only known one cool guy on the spectrum who was interesting and not boring. Note: I’m talking about guys I know personally. I’ve met a few guys here with knowledge of things outside of bowling and technology.

Many women on the spectrum get Temple Grandin comparisons. I got a comparison the other day because I was looking in the animal section of a bookstore because I’m considering adopting a ball python. I don’t relate to animals. I relate to NT and high functioning people who have lost a relative to dementia because I did. I relate to women who went through a painful breakup or have had a parent ditch them (my mom divorced my dad and he terminated parental rights).

The truth is most guys on the spectrum have it easier than most women on the spectrum.

It depends on the man or woman.

I’m sorry you’re having a hard time.

I can talk about bowling for hours, by the way :P

Gender doesn't define people or their struggles.

We're not supposed to discuss this type of topic on WP.

I think that trans people have it pretty hard either way.

I've never heard of the rule against this kind of topic, and I don't see why this wouldn't be allowed.

There's probably no good answer because we'd have to survey a lot of autistic people to get anything accurate.

But there are real differences in men's and women's lives in general and experiences of autism in particular that are relevant. Women in general are almost always at a higher risk of sexual abuse than men are, and that risk is compounded by the naivety and difficulty reading other people typical of autistic people.

However, I don't see what's relevant about all the autistic men you've met being the same, and I don't see what's relevant about autistic women being compared to Temple Grandin. Those aren't difficult things to deal with.

It's OK, it's not your fault. It's just that in the last thread that I saw on this topic, one of the mods said something about this topic not being allowed to be discussed any more because it's a repetitive topic and always ends up with members bickering.

If that's the grounds for banning topics we might as well just shut the forum down because nothing is acceptable for discussion.

Exactly. Surely half the topics in the PPR subforum is worse than this.
