I’m an only child. Single. Parents are aging. Extended family live hours away. I see what is called an “ARHMS” worker next week. I did the intake assessment and I qualified. She and I will have a functional assessment and she will ask where I need help and don’t need help. Anyone have a worker like this? Did it help? I have many people enter my home to help. Cleaning. Public Health Nurse. Social worker. Etc. I love and hate getting all this help but I need it. It’s like I’m a half human needing to find the other half of myself. I know I’m a whole person but sometimes it doesn’t feel like it! I wish I could feel whole and beyond all the time like I do with my talents. Ugh.

I have had lots of case workers like the ones you are asking about but it was poor quality. They were nice for the most part however they were very poor at their job but I cant really blame them too much because my state gives them very little tax-payer funding compared to what they need to be effective. But I would get stood up a lot by my case workers and a lot of times they would not get back to me.However I got kicked out of the program when i got a job but I lost the job so i wound up worse off. They just did not give me the time of day to help me a lot of the time because my family is wealthy. They would not let me get back on the program on a technicality.I imagine MN has a much better case worker quality than Texas. So i think you would have much better luck with them than me.

I have had many and I have one now. Only two of the many I have had have ever actually helped me. The others all had such egos that they actually harmed me.

Have you considered contacting your state's Vocational Rehab Services?

Sort of have one. She’s pretty unpleasant. All I really want is to get funding for actual support workers. I don’t really work directly with her. Right now I’m in a program, so I have people who work with me. We both worked on an agenda for the meeting. During the actual meeting I just stayed passive so I’m more likely to get help. I find I don’t get help if I’m too articulate.
