Music that reminds you of special interests

Does anyone else seek out music that reminds them of their special interests? Or even make playlists dedicated to them? Feel free to share examples!
I do, and sometimes the same song that has been a lifelong favourite, changes its meaning in my mind over the years to match which topic is at the forefront.

I have a few playlists dedicated to the topic of primates and mermaids in particular. Very few of the songs are explicitly about that but the vibe matches.

I am partial to some ambient music.

I think it can make me more comfortable without distracting me.

My favorite composer is Steve Roach.

Old German music and the music of the 1960s.

One of my special interests is Beat Generation literature and I listen to jazz from the 1940’s/50’s/60’s, which reminds me of Beat Generation literature because the Beats were also into jazz during this time period. The literature and the music put together takes me back mentally to that time period, which gives me an emotional break from focusing on what is happening today. Put together it’s kind of like a time capsule. Also I read a lot of books about post punk bands (which is a special interest of mine) and listen to the music they made and that brings me back to the 1970’s/80’s. Overall it helps me cope with getting through these apocalyptic times we are living in.

Not, not anymore at least.

For awhile I was really into Viking and pagan themed black metal, but gradually lost interest in that.

A lot of the music I like has lyrics that are almost counter to my interests, like tough-guy lyrics, or pathological/gore lyrics (whether gore as a horror theme or as a metaphor for the meat industry), etc.

Although, I also listen to bands with lyrics that are more closely aligned as well.
