It ruined my life so much that I cheated on my boyfriend so many times that he had enough of it. And it’s gotten to the point where my parents intervene and want to put me into intense therapy and rehab. What should I do in this situation? I don’t want my mom to quit my job because of my behavior. I betrayed my boyfriend over 10 times because of this problem. What are my options? My life is destroyed now.

Go to a therapist and get help to change your behaviour?

I second the therapist advice.

But I'll attempt to share some thoughts, in case any of them feel possible for you right now.

I think it would probably be helpful to find another hobby or outlet. Maybe try drawing or colouring or painting? Making music? Singing? Dancing? Running? Going for a walk? Maybe make a list of activities you like doing (not sex) so you can focus away from it for a bit and hopefully that could help you understand more of who you are without physical intimacy with another person!

Have you tried journaling? Maybe start by writing what your feeling and also writing about what kinds of things you might enjoy doing with your life.

But if you had a therapist you could share things in a confidential environment and also get some perspective from hopefully someone who can help, or maybe point you to a better direction. Therapy likely won't be a quick fix for your difficulties but hopefully it could help.. maybe introduce you to some tools to use to help work on yourself.

It may be helpful to identify a reason. Simple pleasure may drive it and it could operate in your life like a drug or alcohol addiction.

It may be that there is a need for affirmation of desirability. This might stem from a developmental deficiency such as abuse or simply a longing to be desired.

There are some darker possibilities, but trying to identify what is going on is probably the best way to select a corrective approach.
