Dressing up for Halloween!

Since I live in Ireland we have Halloween (like the US) and I have dressed up for the occasional Halloween party. But I hate dressing up, one time as a kind of protest I "dressed" up in my old work clothes - which consisted of a gas mask, goggles and white overalls (people concluded that I was an Iraq weapons inspector). The people in my Aspie social group don't want to dress up either.

Do others hate dressing up for Halloween and other occasions?

Other occasions - yes. Halloween - no, I love dressing up. It's like being a different person, and sometimes it gives me an extra boost of confidence. I think it's fun.

I would have dressed up as a bunny, but I would very likely have homework that night, so I probably won't dress up.

I love dressing up--- not just for Halloween, either. As long as my costume is comfy. And no masks, please. Masks are not comfy and they make my face all sweaty and yucky. Unfortunately, this year it falls on a weekday and I will be at work--- I will be handing out candy to the kids, though, in the evening. Every kid needs candy so that their parents can appreciate the noise!

I enjoy “dressing up” to some extent. Like dressing period for a renaissance festival is great fun. I might dress up for a Star Trek convention, but my idea of "dressing up" there is rather simple, just a classic blue-shirt uniform like Spock wore (no prosthetic foreheads, please). Sometimes I dress up for no apparent reason, but in subtle ways. Like when I wear my 12-foot Tom Baker Dr. Who scarf around. Or sometimes I wear my old white lab coat out to the grocery store just for kicks. (Although I've been rather annoyed to be mistaken for a butcher when I do this. And I’ve been meaning to dye that coat bright green Gizmonic Institute style for over a decade now, but have never gotten around to it…) I've considered getting a shirt of chainmail to wear around for just the hell of yet, but I've yet to see one that meets my standards (black rings AND riveted/welded rings), so I haven't picked one up yet. If I wear a black leather cowboy hat, is that me dressing up? Hmm...

Last time I dressed up was in high school, I dressed up as, well some gothic kid but added chains around my neck and makeup, that was lots of fun and everybody got a kick outa watching my geeky ass dressed up like that. It made me feel very confident oddly enough (as stated previously) i wonder why that is??

At work, we are having an "Around the World" theme for Halloween. I am going to dress up in my German dirndl dress.

I love dressing up for halloween, its the best. I worked at six flags, for the fright fest, as a circus psycho clown, where I would get paid to wear a scary mask and carry around a bloody knife, it was the best job in the world !

I dislike dressing up. as a younger girl I liked it. I even sometimes showed up to school in costume when it wasn't halloween... that never went over so well though

I like getting into costume... In my High School, we can come in costume on Halloween, so when I heard this, I screamed "WEREWOLF ALERT!"

Yep. I'm gonna be a werewowl. I have this ripped up shirt and I'm gonna put a mask on and get my mom's fake blood. But I can't make it too frightening - there are little kiddies upstairs. Meh.

Also, I like to wear my old black cloak from last Halloween around the house. It's fun.

Where I used to work at Christmas I dressed up as Father Christmas it was fun the only problem was it was very hot as I was working in a shop and I was also on the Shop Floor as well and heaters were on full blast also I went to a party last year (wasn't a fancy dress one) and for a laugh I dressed up as Ozzy Osbourne and tried to immitate his voice it was funny.

I'm gonna go to a gig (hopefully) that's kinda fancy dress halloween... I don't know what to go as though... I think I'd take whatever's easiest to come by lol.
I could just go as a werewolf or a skeleton or something... maybe I'll go as Skeleton Jack... lol

I never wear fancy dress - I have absolutely no idea at all about how to put a costume together, & I don't fancy hiring one because of all the people who must have worn it before me - ugh!

I love it and spend a lot of money for costumes. Of course, most of my wardrobe could be classified as 'costumes'.
