I'm rushing somewhere around the house and catch a toe on a door jam or chair and break it. I've broken nine toes, some more than once. I'm getting good at broken toe first aid.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that does this! You definitely have done it more then me, but I have broken my right pinky toe twice. Just from doorways, and furniture. It's all disfigured now. It's like I have tunnel vision. I only see what's directly in front of my face, so I end up running into a lot of things.

Maybe you'll catch up to me in time. I'm glad that I'm not the only one. My feet should have their own instincts to watch out for obstacles. I have more important things to think about. My toes all have a rounded look about them now except for the big toes.

I knew a guy once who had to have his big toe amputated and not he can't stand up in the shower. I never knew that big toes were for standing up in showers.

I read soewhere that you would not be able to walk without both big toes.

i am lucky to never have broken a toe, but i do sprain my ankles an awful lot.

I have broken a few toes, I even broke my leg back in 05. But mostly I just end up with a lot of bruises from walking into tables and walls. Heh. I always watch my feet when I walk so I don't fall down as much as I used to.

I have never broken any bone (knock on head), even when in a bad accident. My husband broke bones as a young child, from abuse and recklessness. His toe bones are so brittle that he has rebroken/fractured them by doing ordinary things like standing up.

I have broken toes several times, and am always bruised from running into things around the house.

This is why I wear shoes.

How about just taping them up now for when you break them later? :P

How about those really lightweight slippers or those Japanese slip on kungfu shoes?

WAIT A MINUTE!

Go around the house with a saw and cut out the bottom portion of the doorway back into the wall, say.... 8 or 10 inches by 12 inches up from the floor!
You can use your body as a bumper car and your feet will slip harmlessly through the cutout!

I know you want to just throw your arms around me in a great big hug... but a virtual one will do just fine :D

btw; I quit breaking my toes (usually the big toes and littlest ones), but I'm still wacking my elbows into the doorways when I go through....hmmmm.....where's my saw?

Shoes are a good idea, or even slippers for around the house. Why not try slowing down?

You have great ideas! I think you are an advocate for toe rights, aren't you?

Hugs right back.

You're rightt. I should wear slippers. As for slowing down. I'm sure forced to slow down right now. Too much pain. I seriously have to remember to wear slippers.

I don't realize that I'm rushing and running into something until I do.

Slowing down and just plain knowing where the door frame is in relation to my elbows and toes is hard. When I'm going about the house, my mind is full of all sorts of things that push any thread of self-preservation way back in line.
