Whilst I am very much in favour of loving my Aspie traits and not being 'cured' of them, there are other things, not related to AS, that I need to work on. I'll share the difference, in my own experience, for what its worth:

1. Not being socially gregarious. Not a problem. Helps me to focus on and perceive the world in a unique and useful way. If I was 'cured' of this, my value would be halved, if not eliminated.

2. Having a negative outlook. This is a problem. The perspective I gain in my solitude is useless unless it is motivated by a positive outlook. I can cultivate a positive outlook with the tools of acceptance and tolerance.

3. Having narrow interests. Not a problem. Allows me to put all of my passion into a subject, heart and mind.

4. Being narrow minded. This is a problem. It reduces my efficacy in special interests unless they are pursued in context. I can cultivate open-mindedness with the tool of willingness.

That's enough from me for now. I'll share more when they pop into my mind.

I would like to add to the list of problems: not knowing when to stop being wrong about something, until afterwards. With work, mind, and in yesterdays case, an apology of some kind, I can consider that maybe, just maybe, someone else's point of view could be equal to or better than my own. Guided by hindsight.

Yes, I think all human beings are guided by hindsight, Speedy *wink* Which is why its good to try and live in the moment, and also to cultivate humility so that we can admit when we are wrong, even in hindsight, which you seem to be able to do. Its not easy, but its possible. I sometimes get it right, sometimes not.

Wow, I've just had an epithany. Well, you gave me the idea, so I think moment of clarity is the phrase. Although it is hard for me to step down from an argument, I must admit that there would be more time for my interests and, I guess fun. I was one of those people that would have had "least likely to make diplomat" in my yearbook. Instead I got "Year Numpty" and "most likely to become Jim Morrison". Summed me up quite well at the time. Anyway. Thank you, Sapphix. Your words proved insightful.
