The only aspie who I know, aside from myself, is my sister.
My sister and I are very close, but we're bound by family, not friendship.
I don't think I can say I have any aspie friends.

You can guess what kind of friends I have by my custom title...

I have made some friends on here as well: Ana54, Berserker and RTSgamerFTW.

I consider my family and therapist to be friends too.

Most of my "friends" are simply the people who I have spent the most time interacting with: fellow college students who I worked on group projects with; former roommates; the people in the house I live in now. I have very few friends who share the same interests as me, and few who I relate to. I don't think it has much to do with AS. As far as I know, none of my friends have AS, and I don't know if my ability to communicate with them would be significantly different if they did have AS.

I have a lot of "friends" back at the apartment that I moved out of this summer. I'm always welcome to stop by, and encouraged to come when they're partying. They practically cheer when I come in the door, and they give me lots of attention, but I just don't get anything out of it any more, mostly because I can't engage in conversations worth having. Getting drunk and playing beer pong just isn't fulfilling.

My housemates in my new home, and their friends, are kindof the same way. When they have free time, they like to play online games, or watch TV and get drunk. Some of them actually have unusual interests: One of them recently set up a large aquarium in the house, and he now collects fish, crabs, seahorses, sand-sifter critters, etc, for it. It's not something I know much about, but it's good conversation material.

Okay, I don't know. I only have two people I consider friends, one is someone I've known since I was 13(I'm 20 now) and she's not on the spectrum. The other person I consider a friend, is my current boyfriend who is an Aspie.
I suppose I consider my Mother a friend and she is HFA, but she's my Mother...so I don't know if that counts.
So I guess that would be, some NTs some Aspies? haha

Friends? What are those? :(

Really, most people that I've called friends at some point in my life weren't really friends. They came and went, or even if I still consider them friends in some way, we don't really connect all that well or talk about anything too important (and I typically don't see them very often at all). I don't get that "at ease" feeling from them. The few friends that I have felt fairly at-ease with and could open up a little with, were the ones that were most similar to me. I don't think that they are aspies, but they have some similar traits. It's good to feel understood on some level. When I feel so different from a person, I can't connect to them at all. I just get good at hiding things, as I do with everyone else. Then it's often just stressful to associate with them.

I've actually been lucky enough to find some friends that I've had for more than 20 years. My one friend was very astute in realising that my friends are very utilitalitarian as well. Mostly of the ilk, of they care take me in some way. My friends are extremely overprotective of me in some way. That's what makes it work, I think.

Now, I'm able to have friends that have similar interests. That seems like more "normal" friendships. I still have those same few friends that I've had forever, though.

Most of my friends are NTs. I am the godmother of my son's godmother's children who also has major sensory issues. Her and the kids and the husband. Hmmm...wonder why that friendship has worked. LOL!

I'm more careful about making sure that my friendships are based on people who actually do respect me and like my quirkiness.

Better role model for my son, as well. Makes sure that he has friendships that are lasting and truly friendships.

I don't have any friends in real life...

I have friends online though and some are NT and some are aspies/auties.
So I chose "NT and aspie" for the poll option, even though I have never net these people I still consider (most of them) good friends.

I had acquaintances in high school, though i highly suspect they were on the spectrum somewhere, whether it be AS, autism or whatever.

I would very much like some aspie friends... to know in person it'd help a great deal. It's a big challenge trying to not make an NT feel awkward around me...

Tricky stuff. lol

My friends (more associates, as in my opinion friendship is something which requires mutual effort) in high school were my personal buffer zone.
