Do antidepressants affect one's survival instinct?
IME, antidepressants work best when you're also getting therapy. I had no idea that anxiety wasn't really a useful emotion in most situations until I managed to get rid of it... being afraid to lose your anxiety is anxiety, after all. Once you get used to not being anxious, you can count on other things for survival (like, what makes you happy, what makes you feel satisfied, what brings you the rewards you want, etc.). It's not simple, of course, and it takes a while to figure out....
It's funny, I have exactly the same problem... what if I'm too confident? But lately I've been wondering, what's the downside of being too confident? Maybe I think I'm hotter or more interesting than I really am? But so what? Lots of people who I don't think are hot think they're hot, but what does my opinion mean to them? It just works better to think MORE positive instead of LESS positive. I've been wrong about more important things, lol.
