Greatly annoy me. I don't Suffer from AS. anyway, this list has ASon ti and say we "suffer" it also calls the term aspie, "cute".

any type of news story or article or anything that calls anyone of any disability a "sufferer" is BS...

i especially hate news stories that say people like me "suffer" from cerebral palsy and other movement disorders...

Thats on the list to. But it doesn't say anything about suffering. They can't truly know unless they have it.

i personally say unconditionally no one "suffers" from a disability... you "suffer" from a terminal disease like cancer... but disabilities you do not "suffer" end of story...

You can, but often what you suffer from is nothing more than the discrimination and the bullying and being underestimated, misunderstood, or considered worthless or useless. So I agree with you.

agreed... that is the part we "suffer' from.. but that does not mean we suffer from the disorder its self... that means we suffer from some of its byproducts...

I suffer for I cannot stand around people that I don't know without wishing to die or wishing to kill them (see: the pain I feel due to my social/sensory impairment).

Since people I don't know are everywhere, you get the picture.

I definitely suffer some because of AS traits. I avoid doing things that I really want to do because I am afraid of doing it wrong or over-stimulation, or not being able to handle as much conversation as the event would require.... and many other reasons.

It doesn't offend me at all. It's an expression that has been used for a long time. In that context "suffers from" is just a synonym for "has".

Plus, really, if we weren't suffering, this syndrome never would have had so much as a name, much less all this research and recognition. There's no "great at tennis syndrome" or "happy disposition syndrome". There are real problems that come along with having AS. In part that's why we have a support site.

I don't think I suffer directly from any aspect of what certainly seems like AS. But as a consequence I am very, very lonely, misunderstood and prone to depression.
