Do you feel "normal" when you take either of these medicines?

No.

I feel weird, and I have weird dreams. The only reason I take oxycodone is I have severe rheumatoid arthritis and analgesics do not help.

When I take the vicoden it doesn't make me drowsy, but gives me allot more energy and seemed more cheerful and clear-headed. But I think that is the opposite affect from what most people get. Maybe if that is what normal feels like, I wouldn't mind feeling that way.

I think you're right...all I can think of is "wow, this is what i've been missing."

Nice not to think about how my shirt feels, or which angle my hair is parted at, or trying to balance my checking account for the next 5 days in my head.

Normal is good...like a vacation

I was prescribed something similar to vicodin for a while, and it did absolutely nothing to the way I am except make me really out of it.

High doses of codeine make me more aspie in some ways and more NT in others. I become absolutely fascinated by shiny things, and want to touch/stroke everything. On the other hand, I become much less anxious and find it easier to interact. I think the main difference is that the pleasant sensations are enhanced and the unpleasant ones are reduced. I could very easily become completely addicted.

Morphine made me feel "awake" and "alert", I don't know if it is supposed to do that (I always thought it had a sedative effect). Perhaps it completely killed my pain so I felt more "normal", who knows.
