Thinking about something and having it go away just after

Here are some recent examples of what I'm talking about:

Fall 2004: Chicago's Contemporary Christian radio station WZFS "106.7 The Fish" came up in my mind so I suddenly started to listen to tapes of it that I made 4 years before. About a week after that happened I found out that it was getting traded off to another company and would go Spanish at the end of the month.

July 2005: On July 1st of this year the local station WLIP-1050 AM came up into my head. I was thinking "The current format isn't gonna last forever. Better record it." So I put a tape in. The day after the station changed format to oldies. Within the weeks before this happened I was thinking "They're probably gonna flip it to oldies since WJMK-104.3 went Variety Hits AKA Jack. That would be cool but I like what they have on now too." And what do you know, its there.

August 2005: I was thinking a lot about the New Orleans radio stations WEZB-97.1, WKBU-105.3 and what is now KHEV-104.1. On and off I was thinking about their formats and how cool they were. About a week or so later Hurricaine Katrina takes them off the air.

Last week: San Francisco's oldies station 99.7 KFRC came up in my mind. I started wondering how long the oldies format on there was going to last. 2-3 days later, they tweaked it to Gold Adult Contemporary.

Anybody else have something like this happen? I hate it. You think of something cool and that something winds up flushed down the toilet just after.

i can remember a striking example, myself. i was thinking about john lee hooker, and so played one of his albums - i hadn't listened to anything by him for ages. then, early the next morning, i heard that he'd died the previous day. waaaaaaaaaaaah!

Have you ever read Ursula Le Guin's The Lathe of Heaven?

In that story, there is a man who can dream events and make them happen just by dreaming about them. He falls into the clutches of an ambitious psychiatrist who subjects him to hypnosis and tells him what to dream, so that his own ambitions get brought about in reality.

Your one seems to be a narrowly-focussed version of that, but it applies to Radio Stations.

In the UK, there is a BBC Station called Radio Two, that plays Organ Music in the evenings sometimes. I never listen to it myself, but I don't suppose you could give that some thought, could you? :)

Please do not think about Sunny 99.9 in El Paso.

My livelihood as program director and morning show host depends on it.

I'm not surprised by any of this. Most importantly, New Orleans is like a huge swamp.
