My roommate and I boughta hookah a few days ago. Makes an awesome coffee-table piece, and smells good too!

i have two - from Turkey, where they're called "nargile".

if you're planning on using it, though, be warned - you HAVE to use the proper pressed tobacco, which might be a bugger to get hold of.

We've used it, and with the proper tobacco. There is a hookah bar in town that sells it. It's some very nice stuff.

Hookahs are really nice. I've tried one a couple of times, and it felt great. The tobacco doesn't give you as much of a buzz as a cigarette, but it tasted incredible. In Israel, hookah bars as common as coffee places in the U.S. Don't smoke one for too long, or it'll give you a headache.

BTW, when I first heard the word hookah, I thought it was Ebonics for hooker.

I've never heard of anyone smoking tobacco from a hookah. It's always been another plant, if you know what I mean

I thought this was a joke thread before I started reading it.

My friend actually knew some Lebanese guys who had some of that kind of tobacco with the chopped fruit in it and everything. Lol, he even went down to the apartment pool with a big glass-piece gurgler smoking the stuff and said he struck up a conversation with a security official or two, crazy thing was they thought it was kinda cool when they realized it wasn't weed.
