OK. This may be an odd topic, but I have to ask this question.
Does anyone else here ever get the feeling that other people
can read your mind? I'm not talking about hearing voices like
a schizophrenic. I mean that I will be thinking about something
to myself, and another person (frequently my husband) will make
comments on that topic. Sometimes it's almost like I can feel
the presence of their mind sitting in the back of my head,
listening to my thoughts. And they will use that information
to manipulate me.

Well, I worry that people are staring at me (Slightly egotistical, but oh well) and think how much of a horrible person I am.

I doubt many can read my mind as there are so many thoughts inside that I can't even concentrate on one wholly.

I was at a convention where a guy basically "reads" your mind. He never chose me despite being right infront of him. He instead picked both people next to me. lol.

He was quite entertaining, if i say.

mmmmm sometimes with people I am either really close with or experience tied to in someway. Few people can read my mind, of the ones that can get even close to what I am 'actually' comprised of-bless you.

Nope. People try to guess what I'm thinking and I'm usually in an entirely different place.

I think that is an ability everyone has. But this WAS one of my interests when I was little. If I concentrated very hard, the odds that something would happen would increase, etc... ALSO, I could get an idea of what the other person was going to say, sometimes word for word. It wasn't easy though, and eventually I got bad headaches just trying. It wasn't like I could always do it. I never knew ANYONE to be able to reliably do it. Wouldn't it be nice if you could always see how people would percieve a stock? Sometimes berkshire hathaway moves over $400 in one DAY.

FRANKLY, there are two FAR more likely possibilities:

1. You or they got a subconcious feeling mentally that caused one of you to remember the subject.
2. You or they got a subconcious feeling due to an external stimulus that caused you to BOTH consider the subject.

For me, it usually works better in reverse. I sometimes, am able to pick up on others' thoughts and feelings. Especially, when they are anxious. I seem to have an anxiety level meter built into my brain. Kinda cool. 8)

Can other people read my mind?
No...not unless they are telepathic, which is unlikely.

Most of the people that "read minds" have just trained themselves extensively in noticing facial and bodily reactions. The eyes can tell a lot in a person.

The guy I posted about earlier, he would have you hold a book or to think of a word and he would spell it out for you. His explanation was that subtle movements in eyes, face, body, reveals what the person was thinking. Obviously it does not work on everyone. :)

I think if they could, they'd either be much better, or much worse...;)

And if they could, I'd likely be dead already..;)

No, I'm sure they can't read my mind.... since they don't run away screaming and losing control of their bodily functions....

I hope people can't read my mind. Strange happenings there!

Logically and rationally, no, others cannot read my mind.

Irrationally, I worry that they can; thought broadcasting and whatnot. They can't though.

If people know you very well (and I'm assuming your husband fits that category), they're more likely to be able to "pick up" on what you're thinking due to prior experience. They know you and how you think, so they have better chances of realizing it.

Yes. Here's why: No, no neurotypical is truly telepathic - that's not quite what I mean. However, NTs can be tremendously good at 'reading' another's cues, nonverbal, etc. They can be dead wrong too - another topic.

But certainly there are 'people persons' and they have the knack for knowing another's emotions/feelings...etc.
The crux of my rationale is that, in comparison to me, being mindblind, most NTs can be fairly good (at least better than me) at 'mind reading.'

Personally, I have lousy ESP and no gage if someone likes me, hates me, is feeling miserable for any reason, elated----emotional states are quite foreign to me and therefore I just cannot read another. Awkardness.

ah. . actually they aren't reading YOUR mind, Bea, you are reading THEIRS.

I do this all the time. After years and years, I realize I am picking up their thoughts and then they say them.

it's weird. . but so what. As long as we use our gifts for good, I don't see the problem

Nine times out of ten my mom knows what I'm going to say before I say it. It's kind of scary. 8O
