Sometimes I get these waves of a prickly cold sensation going through my head. I have never heard of anyone talk about this type of sensation before and cant find anything on the internet, but it is really really nice. I just want to stay very still and feel it. It happens frequently when I have to have some kind of medical prodedure like going to the dentist, having my eyes tested or even having a massage, but not when people I know touch me (which in general I dont like at all) and I cant make it happen any other way. I was wondering if anyone else has this type of sensation. It is something I have had since early childhood and I tried explaning it once only to be met with blank looks and ridicule. I would really like to know what it is as in my experience it is better than an orgasm (but completely unsexual).

I get a similar sensation which is a symptom of epilepsy...I'd mention it to your doctor next time you seem them.

Recently I tried taking some gaba, and got the SAME sensation! It seemed harmless, but I stopped.

I think it's more properly "epiform electrical activity", which is still epilepsy but without the big fit type thing. I can believe GABA would short out a few circuits and produce that effect.

I get something similar, except that the tingling starts in my head then then travels down my body, it also makes my limbs feel weak, gives me a kind of ring-hum sound in my ears, and gives my vision an bright orange-yellow tint for a few seconds. It can happen at any time, but usually occurs right after I stretch my back after sitting at a desk or computer for a while.

Petit Mal seizures?

ditto. it does sound like an aura. You might not want it cured now, but if it is an auro and you dont' get it cured, you can end up hurt pretty badly - you might be fine for ten years, just having these little auros, than go into a full grand mal seizure.Even if you ignore all the potential for self injury - cracking you head open, falling down wrong and breaking your arm, etc, there is also injury that can be caused by seizures lasting longer than 10 minutes where you don't get immediate medical treatment. I had seizures when I was 6. Then just the auro until I was 14, when i ended up having 3 seizures in one day. during one of them, I was unconcious and not breathing. Luckily I was in school when that happened. had I been at home I would have been alone and there is no doubt I would have died as a result of the seizure where i wasnt breathing

Whats more is that once you have a big seizure, you lose your drivers license for a period of time - in PA its 6 months.

I love that prickly tingly head sensation! I mostly get it when getting a massage, but not always. I've also gotten that feeling out of nowhere. Sometimes, when it's really strong it spreads through out my whole body. It's such a euphoric feeling.

I used to get that sensation too. It usually happened when I lay down to go to sleep. It started in the middle of my neck and went up the center of my neck into my head. It felt like . . . a stack of thin sheets of metal being ruffled gently and methodically. And a sound accompanied it, which seemed to come from the same place as the feeling. The sound was like a bunch of pins falling.

It felt good, but it also made me wonder if there was something wrong with my spinal chord or brain, like a tumor. Then it suddenly stopped happening, circa my early twenties. Now I miss it and wonder why it stopped.

Hey Odin, I'm not sure .. but that sounds like it might be a spinal cord issue? Sometimes when a disc in the spine is bulged or something isn't quite right, it can cause pressure on the spinal chord. This can cause the limbs to feel week sometimes.. Possibly when you stretch, it might be causing the spine muscles to push a disc or something?? You might want to have that checked out.. not to alarm you or anything..

I get what I think is the same thing, only I can make it happen. Weird, no?

I get that feeling, right after I sneeze. I just wish it would last longer.

I've had this since I was a little kid and have had no issues with my vertebrae or spinal cord. If it is a spinal cord thing why would it start in my head and include auditory and visual effects?

I've been reading Wikipedia and these things sound like simple partial seizures.
