hm. Very few avators stick out in my memory...those that do, do so because they were offensive or to large for the site and caused forum blowout.
I think the avator helps me to understand the person better. It seems a reflection of them, what is important to them, therefore when they change, I do find it a bit...jarring.
You, for example, seem like a nice, open person based on your avator.

edited to add: the exception to being jarred by a new avator is the posters who regularly change them. Those I am able to view as a picture book of their interest.
spelling also fixed up as long as I was editing.

I don't like it when people change thier avatars because changes upset me.But then again,it's THIER avatar...

I like lots of avatars...and no, it doesn't confuse me when people change their avatars. I like changing mine every so often when I get bored of the old one. I have so many avatars stored...and some great christmas ones
