Can you multi-task?
Can you sort of multi-task?
Why do you think it is you can/can't/struggle?

Can you multi-task? NO
Can you sort of multi-task? Maybe, but it's torture
Why do you think it is you can/can't/struggle? Because part of my brain doesn't work.

Multitasking is vastly overrated! :P

I can't multitask...multitasking doubles your risk of an accident, according to an Allstate commercial...

I can multi-task depending on what I'm doing. I can talk on the phone, watch TV, and draw pictures all at once. I'm good at that sort of stuff. But if one thing needs my utter concentration, I can pretty much forget about multi-tasking.

Multitorture topic

This is the big thing that NT employers want. I fail dismally at it. That, and fast-paced work settings. I could never even imagine doing it. :? :? :? :?

yeah, i can barely single task.

well, it depends. i do horrendously with long term multitasking, like having different projects going at once. unfortunately, running a house and raising two kids is several projects going on at once.

i can't get my laundry done because i can't stop everything to do it, ever. and the house de-cluttered.

i need to start making lists, give each task a time limit and set a timer.

Multi tasking no. I can focus really well on a single task such as writing software but am easily distracted. My NT wife multi-tasks all the time and sometimes does 5 or more things at the same time. :?

Not at all. I can ALMOST watch TV and talk on the phone at the same time, but i can only hear about half of what the other person is saying.

I am absolutely and completely unimodal.
That said, I fake multitasking at the laboratory and it works - all it means is that I complete one distinct part of Task A (no time limit, just a distinct part, like a sub-heading), then do a distinct part of Task B, then back to A. It isn't really multitasking (it's more like unitasking for one hour at a time on different things), but if I can describe to the research facilitator where I am in two projects, it sounds like I'm multitasking.

If someone gives me two or three jobs at once, I multitask the way a computer does: ten minutes on this, ten minutes on that. If I get four or five jobs, I do the smallest ones first to reduce the number of jobs. If I get six or seven jobs at once, I go berserk.

I haven't been able to forever, but since taking on the Guitar, I find that I'm able to do two things at once easier and easier. :D

I've learned to multitask at certain routines that I did everyday, and I think that's probably as close as I'll ever get to knowing what it's like to be a really well trained athlete or dancer, in that there's that challenge of keeping all the plates spinning at once for as long as possible (I know I'm mixing metaphors, but you get the picture).

On a normal day though, being thrown too many tasks simultaneously is a good way to induce a meltdown. My wife's OCD actually seems to make her better at multitasking, but if I try to do too many things at once, something(s) will fall by the wayside and be forgotten while I'm distracted by the things that interest me. She comes home at least twice a week to find a cup of cold coffee in the microwave that I put in there to reheat that morning, then wandered off to do something else and forgot.
