When I was younger, I always wore a big, heavy jacket. No matter what the weather, I always wore it. I guess I like the comfort and the pressure, but I also think it gave me the sense of familiarity. I still do that to this day, I alway wear a jacket, sometimes not as heavy, but I still wear one.
I also do not go out of the house without: Flash drives (I have 5 of them) My favorite deck of cards (An Ellusionist Masters deck with UV 500 Airflow finish, and a custom made steel card case) my keys, a pencil/pen.
Although I do not need to wear my glasses when reading, I still do. The first thing I do in the morning is put my glasses on, and they stay on my face until I go to bed.
Whenever I leave my seat in class, I always take my backpack (I have horrible memories of people vandalizing my stuff and kicking my backpack and even throwing it away)

I am sure other people with AS are like this too.

Whenever I leave the house, I always take my keys, wallet, coins and comb with me. Of course I need some of these things, but not all. My thing about this is I always have to keep each of them in the same pockets. This way, I always know where each item is. Having things in specific places at all times is important to me. I embrace familiarity.

I do not believe I could leave the apartment without my wallet, keys, and some change in my pockets. With good reason it has become a habit. I think I could give up anything if I had no choice. Like if all my possessions were destroyed by fire? Aspies' habits may be stronger than NTs because of the way our brains form connections. That would explain our notorious difficulty with change and new routines. Maybe those neural pathways which literally constitue our habits & routines don't break down from disuse as quickly as NT brains. Some habits I find unbelievably difficult to break.

I've had a silk stuffed animal since I was little. I rub it on my face, chew on it, and carry it around all over the house to this day. LOL

I hate change. It takes forever for me to adjust.

Resistance to change is futile, given the nature of space/time.

I find it extremely difficult to break habit. Such as: I always have to listen to my favorite internet radio show, except when I'm in school. My parents don't like the fact that I am somewhat obsessive over the shows, and that when I have to go out of my room, and away from the computer, I take my Palm with me, along with my headphones with the long wire, and the Palm charger. That way I can listen to the shows while around the house.

When I go out of my house or go down town when I am at college, I always take my phone, my iPod (naturally, I can't live without my music), a drink of bottled water, my purse, my keys (especially my car key) and my SD card but ONLY IF I am going to get some photos off it from KTD (local computer shop).

So, basically.. I take out normal things! Yay!

:D

I could NEVER give up my computer (my sole reason for living, obviously)

I could never give up my Oldsmobile or my model cars. I would never give up my pets ( unless they die, of course). I would never give up my collection of boots . I could never give up so many things/

The day I give up my computer is the day the Earth spirals into the Sun.
