Everything suddenly seems so loud today: my roommates' clicking their computer mice and dragging their computer mice across their desks, their tapping at their keyboards, the incessant slamming shut of some door down the hallway (I don't know how often people have to go in and out), people talking loudly outside in the parking lot five floors down. My more extraverted roommate started rapping at his desk and then clicking his fingers for a few seconds. The more introverted one earlier was constantly sniffling.

Today all these things seem especially loud. I don't know why. My head felt like it was burning earlier today, so I took some ibuprofyn. I started feeling achy, but I think that's because I'm having to walk with a bad posture from having hurt my right foot.

Stress can often do that. You deal with something else, you have less ability to tone down the volume level. Like when I play solitaire, the mouse click just starts reverberating in my head. Gives me a headache.

Ibuprofen inhibits muscle healing.

I agree with the others who said it was probably stress. Do you have a place you can go that you know is quiet and peaceful?

Neanthumain, was there a headache or migraine as well?
I find that with migraines sound perception is a lot more extreme than it usually is.

I've had headaches that make sound and light painful, but I didn't have a headache in this case. It was really odd.
