This is probably an oft-repeated question that goes 'round like a broken record, but I took a few of the longer Aspie tests and have come away from them deducing that I may have borderline Asperger's. I was also tested by a psychologist who said that my Verbal IQ score was 26 points higher than my Performance IQ, that I had bilateral motor skill deficits, and that these factors might hint at Asperger's, or at least a Nonverbal Learning Disorder. Here are some traits that I can associate with Asperger's:
-don't do well when trying to express myself to others
-am fascinated by the English language, particularly definitions and etymologies, and copy down definitions into several notepads
-make the same lists obsessively, usually of favorite musicians, movies, and friends (the shortest list)
-am concerned about the texture of things
-have more left-brained strengths than right-brained strengths
-a lot of other things on this test: http://www.rdos.net/eng/
I used to...
-interpret things literally
-have pretty big motor skills problems
-hug people by putting my cheek against the person's chest
Neurotypical Characteristics:
-good at interpreting body language
-good penmanship (not sure if that's a neurotypical thing)
-emotionally well-balanced, for the most part
-don't follow routines or have rituals
What do you think?
