Ghosthunter and I have teamed up on a project over the past couple weeks, and we'd both really love to hear what people think. These are more than fanvids... they're designed to evoke a mood, to draw out an atmosphere, not to retell any specific story of J.K. Rowling's.

It's his vision and my occasional technical support. He picked the songs and cut all the clips in iMovie.

http://www.studiopyraxis.com/temp/Sinatra_Col_BW.mov

http://www.studiopyraxis.com/temp/letterbox.mov

Which one is your favorite? How do you think these videos stand up... first, as fanvids... second and more important, as artistic expression...?

Has anyone else done video editing?

I like the third one the best. I like the effects of the four in one screen. I also like the vivid colours that are shown both at the beginning and the end. :)

Hmmmm? did the other 2 stir the emotions category? I also like
that aged look. And i am still looking for a way to use the N-Box.

Right now I am perusising and converting AVI's to QT to examine
large volume of content and how to use some of the cool effects I
found.

What did you think of the hypnosis eyes video ending logo?

My favorite was the B&W sirius/Lupin Gypsy one, Was that of interest
and invoking of emotion to you?

Hmmmmm?

I liked the songs and they fit well with the movies. It felt very atmospheric for a HP fan like me! The first was a bit hard to see though.

Wow! those are really nice Ghosthunter. I like the first and second the best. The third one was in little boxes and I couldn't concentrate on them very well.

Are the videos going to be for sale? I would buy them if they are.

You are very talented!! :D

I found the second one most emotion evoking. The music and the pictures just seemed to fit together.

I like the look of the third one, the special effects. Now that I've had to chance to see it again, I think it provokes more thoughts about the look, then emotions.

That is truth....The first one was my first ever made.
It is my favorite since it was closest to my sub-conscious,
so I am just a little more forgiving on it, but your very
correct. Here is a tip......due to it's murkiness, enlarge it's
Quicktime image by x2 and look a little back. Like I said
it was my first complete and truest to myself video.

I am right now recapturing Movie to from AVI to QT from
scratch as a library for later videos, it is tedious, and
slow but when done better lighting should make a better
video. I have learned alot from the first 8 ones I did.

Thanks for posting here and critiquing, and hope you
catch Harry Potter #4 soon and tell me what you think.
I am seeing it tonight at 7, arriving by 5pm to checkout
the crowd.

Ghosthunter

First of all thanks for posting here and critiqing.

Second of all the 3rd one is a later effects experiment.
I am seeing how to approach letterboxing, and squaring.

My favorite part of 3 is how the letter scene merges as
one then credits and my hypnosis video logo kicks in.

What do you thinks about the hypnotic video logo?

What was it about the first 2 that you liked?

Thanks for posting here, and also critiquing,

I am trying my hand at this video making so I
can hone my eye/ear/sight skills. I just started
it 2 weeks ago, and had plenty of time to review
others fanmade videos.

www.veritaserum.com/vtmmedia/fanmade

And by using this source and a few others trained my
eye first, and then ear second to match things(seems
likd a natural skill).

When I did my own arranging, this technique helped alot
in preparation to make them..or the developing a eye/ear/video
sight.....sense.

Since Warner Bros. and Rowling are gracious to let
fans play with their characters as creative license,
this is a hobbiest/and viewers sport, not a sale thing.

Besides it makes for a good hobby to express to others
beyond words. So here is to a new talent.

I like the two songs, because i'd never heard them before. I did recognise "Please let me get what I want" from one of the other videos (the ones you didnt make). Its a Smith's song right.

I liked the flow in the first two. The second is probably my favorite. I like the video and how it meshes with the music. The music conjures deep memories for me. Frank Sinatra was my dads favorite singer. He died when I was 11 and the video music reminds me of my dad.....a lot.

I loved the Logo for all 3 videos. It's very artsy. It has a lot of foreign film flavor.

That is true. I scripted it with a fire scene to bring
out it's emotions and timing. Where the first one
was wild and spontaneous like me.....or...It just feel
into it's unique place(the first one)

That is why it is labeled experimental. I am AVI'ing a
better lit library from Movie #1-3 and then plan to use
this effect and some others to illustrate ? I will know
when I get there though.

I like the hypnotic eyes logo ending. What do you think?

I liked the mood of gipsy
If u go away was a bit depressing feeling for me. But I am guessing that was the mood you were going for with that one if so u hit that nail on the head
The one with the 4 boxes one was better one of the 2 if u go away ones in my opinion
