I had no idea...
check this out, you flappers and spinners and rollers - I went from the caught stimming thread to this page because I had forgotten what was so great about vestibular stimulation.
To my suprise, the things recommended for therapy are the things we call "stimming"
Are we geniuses or what?

I stim because first and foremost it feels good and is harmless, and i'm a hedonist. It is comforting, helps me concentrate, and is just generally pleasurable, and all good things. But also i stim because to live as a human is to experiance, and by stimming myself as much as i can i believe i am enriching my personal experiance in this world.

I stim because it calms me down and helps me concentrate, and also because it's become a habit.

I stim because my brain requires excess sensory stimulation at certain times. And... it's fun. :D

I stim because I'm bored or nervous, most often, and it gives me a tiny little thing to focus on.
