:? OMG just a few minutes ago, on my walk my dog and I found something really freaky. It's a baby's cap(my mom says it's sandard issue, they come from the hosital and match your Blanket...) Itwas folded over together, and stuck with something, that looks Very much like blood. I doubt very much that after just having ababy you would get a rusty red substance on your baby's cap and then throw it by the side of the road. my dog went crazy sniffing it and attacking it (like when blood is on something) so I brought it home, laid it in the trash can and brought my mom out to see. she sniffed it and said it smelled like Antiseptic. we're totally tressed already (were having a hoilday party tomorrow and she's been frantically getting ready...) and so she said we'll wait to call the police until we hear that something has happened, or the at the very least next week. I really don't know what to do. and I'm still not sure it's blood, on suspicions. and so I'm freaking out, and I really don't want to have to have the police coming around asking me questions, making me show them where I found it and all that. there were also some big chunks of dirt wich looked funny, which my dog also went after. I'm scared.

Things spread, I know. They're contagious.

Wow, that sounds like a difficult problem. I wouldn't worry too much about it though. They might have just changed the cap and threw the old one out, the blood might have just been from a cut or something. I doubt it's a "murdered baby" sort of problem.

Going to the police anyways just in case doesn't sound like a bad idea to be honest ... but I doubt this is something really serious to be concerned about.

Since I have son who is a cop, I am probablely less concerned about calling the police then you seem to be. The best thing would have been to leave it where it was found and call them.

At this point you could call the anonymous tip line and talk to them first if you are trying to stay uninvolved or have some reluctance. They may have some advice.

But I won't hesitate to call the police directly. Call the actual station house number, not 911. Maybe have a friend present if you think you would get flustered at an interview about it.

if it smells antiseptic it is probably iodine on it, which when dried looks like blood. on a side note, if you were worried something bad had happened why wait to call?
