Lost diagnosis notes.

My mother has told me that i have a diagnosis of autism but it has been lost in all the paper work over time and with being adopted.
When i was moved to fostercare my fosterparents that adopted me where told i was autistic.
But for years i have been told i was neglected so thats why i didn't talk and was told i had an autistic personality and it could be autism.
Now im told i was diagnosed shes sure i was but it was such a long time ago.
I have also been told my medical notes are to hard to route out so how do i find out if i got a diagnosis?.

Also i went to speech therapy for a long time and quite a few things so there should be notes there that i want to see.

I would check with the adoption agency. Because adult adoptees want to find out medical and family history information, adoption agencies keep this information around for awhile. I don't know whether social services does, but you might check with social services in the county in which you were in foster care. Perhaps they can direct you.

If you want the information, be as tenacious as you can. I have spent many years tracking down family information. It's there, but it's not always obvious where it is.
