but will anyone actually meet up?

I'm in Glasgow and would be willing to meet up with others who reside in the same area but as for travelling long distance count me out.

I have already been to two meetups, one in Houston, and one in San Antonio.

I am supposed to be attending Glasgow Autism Resource Centre where there are social groups for people with AS, they go hillwalking, cinema trips, pub crawls etc etc, I am looking forward to that but don't know when its happening, I'll speak to my advisor tomorrow about it.

I'd love to meet other people with AS but I cannot get to Glasgow! That's a little far from me!

Where are you? Find out if there is an Autism Resource Centre near you.

At the moment, Loughborough, however I live in Milton Keynes mainly. There is definitely no help there... I was so alone...

I don't understand why you would even want to "meet up". I don'twant to leave my house.

Sometimes I'd rather not leave my house either, but my desire to progress and my curiosity is stronger. I find I learn much by meeting other people or just observing them. Unfortunately we are humanimals that are put here in groups, meant for some socializing, and we have to find a good way to incorporate that into our life, to enrich and broaden ourselves so we don't implode.

Meeting other aspies was easy. They already understand the social difficulties so there's no "normal" expectations. The range of abilities and interests is wide. If a person is continually looking to improve himself and be alert to any tips for coping or progress it is valuable.

I kinda have a "meet-up" monthly, there's a group I go to for people under the autistic spectrum.

Meeting up is like finally having enough courage to meet the fearsome dragon head to head. It will happen eventually even if you try to hide from it so by taking the inititive yourself you catch the dragon offguard and have an immediate advantage.
Staying in a room is a big downer as it causes a period of nongrowth or non expansion and no matter what you hear we are intended to be growing and expanding as real people despite out problems.

I'd like to meet people from here for the sole purpose of finding out if they really exist. I still have a hard time getting my head around the fact that there are people almost exactly like me (I've never met anyone even remotely like me in my whole 25 years).

but yeah, I'm pretty sure that, as usual, I like the idea of a meeting but it wouldn't be at all easy in practice... but, we'll see.

I've been to Glasgow before, it was great. no plans to go again anytime soon though, sorry OP.

Anna,
Have you ever imagined that all of the posts here are really answered by some big old fat guy or woman locked up in a dingy office someplace like the 'call for sex' people who advertise on TV and he or she is answering all of the thousands of individual posts we all submit so that about half of the people we think we're talking to don't really exist.
Wow that would be so f**king cool and expalin why so many of the post of so f**king stupid.

LOL garyww I know logically that all the Internet people really exist, I just don't feel like they really exist though.
