No, it is not time to celebrate yet. These parents are not done with the court system or their fight. If you read Offit's book, you would realize that the attorneys for these parents fought their case in such a way that appealed to the emotions to those is the gallery (and those watching on TV) who would be future possible jurors. The plan is to now move these cases in to the federal courts where they can get this in front of a jury who is more likely to bring a verdict based on emotion than judges who are more likely to examine the evidence.

Hell, the lawyers for the parents did not even fight expert testimony that proved that the symptoms of autism in their children were visible "BEFORE" the child got the MMR vaccine.

I expect this issue to live on longer than the rumors that Elvis is still alive. :roll:

Thomas Jefferson is believed to be on the autism spectrum. He died before vaccines were invented. I am a second generation Aspie.

Interestingly enough my philosophy prof mentioned this in my critical thinking class, showing how much of a BS thing this was, and how it is a good example of post hoc ergo propter hoc

It's really a perfect example of a post hoc fallacy since there are so many people in history who displayed autistic traits yet were born before vaccines were created.

Although, then you get people who will say. "Ah, but vaccines may not be THE cause... but maybe they're just A cause..."

Arrrrrggggg....

Just get your kids vaccinated. I've never had polio, but I bet it's worse than asperger's.

Immunization is the geatest tool we have of keeping people from dying, so why throw it away at some claim that has no evidence to support it.
