I enjoy extremes of atmosphere and temperature. The more sensory experience, the better. There is an interesting correlation between the state of the environment I am in, and my emotional state. If the air is hot or cold, or it is storming, or it is cloudless and blustery, each of these things excites certain emotions in me. If it is your run-of-the-mill average mild partly cloudy day, I can feel listless and bored and even a little sad.
Natural sunlight is a good thing, but I do not like constant bright light unless it is in the context of an outdoor excursion, and I've planned for it. For one thing, sudden bright light can trigger an involuntary sneezing response, due to faulty nerve signals in my brain. But I generally just feel irritated by the brightness. I keep myself in relative darkness with soft, small-area-focused lighting if possible.
