Nuclear holocaust. Because all problems are asociated with our existence, to not exist would mean to not have problems. So by eradicating all life on earth we would no longer have any problems...

Now to the point:

Because this is not a desirable solution to most (if not all) people in this world, it should be noted that we cannot get rid of all our problems. We can deal with them and work towards progression, but ultimately we will stil have the problems.

This is also true of autism. The only cure for autism is the loss of autism from our existence. Again, few people would want this. I know I wouldn't want it. So again we come to the conclusion that the difficulties we face have to be learned to be managed in a way that progresses the individual affected towards a better quality of life for himself. This meaning that efforts must be made to make an autists life easier to live to the needs they have to live comfortably. This does not mean we can't be independant, it just means we need more assistance and guiding in the right direction. This means people should stop trying to cure us, and rather than wasting valuable research dollars on trying to eliminate something that cannot be eliminated according to the Geneva convention, they should be putting those resources to helping those of us who want to progress to a better quality of life, so that we can live comfortably and happily.

All I want, and I am sure there are many others that think this way, is to not be mistreated (whether intentional or not), to not be ignored, or forgotten. I simply wish to live out my life in a way that I can enjoy it. Trying to find a cure for me will not help. What will helpp is trying to lessen the severity of the problems by treating me right, and helping me when something is wrong (and while I'm not in a meltdown about that thing being wrong).

It is simply useless to try and fix something about someone when the thing you are trying to fix cannot be treated in such a way that allows the person to live happily in the mean time. So until all of us autists are content and comfortable in how we are now, there is no point in trying to fix us.

Edit: Yeah that was pointless... My rant for the day...

You could say the same about being NT. My view is we should aim for a partial cure of sorts, taking all the advantages but none of the disadvantages. As most of the disadvantages are caused by society, the solution is obvious. Change it.

Lets hope our society is isomorphic to theirs...

If NTs get worked up enough about something, there's no telling what you can get them to "want". The idea that Judaism is akin to cancer and can only be cured via the absolute extermination of anybody with any Jewish ancestry would be considered absolutely ridiculous today. Yet millions of people became convinced by the mid 1930s that it was desirable and necessary, and they actually tried to implement this "solution".

Today, autism is being compared to AIDS, and society seems to be yet again sliding towards a "cure" that involves eliminating the affected individuals. It is a fact that once a prenatal test for Down syndrome was developed, over 90% of conceptions of Downs children ended up aborted. The difference between that and a death camp for Jews is only a matter of degree, not to debate abortion but when it is used as a method of extermination then it is de facto genocide.

The language of medicine has been used as justification for genocide for so long that one of the original intents of the Hippocratic Oath was to prevent doctors from being forced to participate in state ordered exterminations. That's why the original oath prohibited abortion, since mass forced abortions were a common method of eliminating groups. Forced abortion is still used in China to enforce population restrictions. Forced infanticide is even discussed in the Bible-the Pharaoh in Exodus orders all male Jewish infants confiscated and killed.

The stated goal of Autism Speaks is a prenatal test. What they don't say is that they expect fetuses that test positive to be aborted. The idea that some people don't just *have* a disease, but *ARE* a disease, and since they are a disease they need to be exterminated to cure them of themselves, seems to be common in history.

This was a good reminder for me right now.

That's the reason that I want to sue Autism Speaks.

Pointless - if they develop a pre-natal tests then someone will go around and blow up a few abortion clinics and they are back to square one.
