I almost didn't vote because the options don't fit me much. I do message with people here, but not regularly, mostly when something in common comes up on a thread and only for a few exchanges.

maybe you should rephrase teh poll so instead of it saying "message' it refers to "pm" as in personal message.
that would have been clearer for me.

But you want poll answers to be vague,
so the participants can interpret them loosely.

when you typed message, do you mean post or Private Message?

I use the PM feature often with several people but find it pretty horrible compared to email so I would not be hurt if the feature disappeared.

I don't like PM or e-mail. I only use those two for business communications. Elsewise it's on the forum. I guess it's a personal security issue where I enjoy the fact that other people can verify what I posted. So yes, it is partly due to a deep anxiety I have.

PMs are a good way to get to know people better if you're not ready to give them your email yet. Also a good way to contact the mods. They're a valuable tool.

I took "message" to mean instant message, not PM.
