That brings me back, Scoots.
A little over a year ago I had made a renewed yet unscuessfull attempt at trying to get a girlfriend. On the first of what may have been called a date, I ended up going into this big uncessisarily long explanation comparing static webpages to dynamically generated webpages from server-side scripting languages. She had just asked me how long it took me to make one site I made (a site similar to wrongplanet.net for my high school that has since been shut down). God I'm such a dork.
There have been a bunch of other times like that. However, one time she wanted me to explain binary to her when we were at the park one time.
I kinda think of her as a geek in denial. The geek pulled us together. The denial pulled us apart. She kept leading me on and rejecting me, and it was utterly depressing and horrible, but it all worked out in the end. In those times between those rejections I was brought closer to someone outside my family than I had probably ever been.
Today I got a letter from her in the mail. She wrote that she missed me and stuff, which was awfully sweet, and included a haloween Pez dispenser. Before she had all these friends who didn't like me and were all better and stuff, but now she's alone in Maryland, and I somehow find comfort in that. And 'twas a year ago this picture was taken.
ANYWAY, getting back on topic, a former NT friend of mine has a great collection of out of context quotes from his friends that your post reminded me of: Click here to view it. Quite a few of those came from my mouth, actually, lol.
