Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, and George C. Scott were all married five times (but not to each other.)

George c. scott was not the first choice to play patton, but third- after rod steiger [turned it down because he had just finished with "the sergeant" and didn't want to do another military movie so soon afterwards- a pity because he would have made the perfect patton] and lee marvin [turned it down because he had just finished "hell in the pacific" and who, btw, would have been a totally crappy choice].

^ was not expecting to get ninjaed in this thread!!

there was this austrian artist oskar kokoschka, consumed by an obsessive love (or dare i say, limerence) after having been separated from alma mahler, her fearing "being overcome with passion"...so he commissioned a life size model of her to be made.

the disappointment was huge. he used the model as a model a few times, then when he felt that he had gotten over her, somehow bashed the doll's head in with a champagne bottle while drunk at a party. the next day, a police patrol happened to glance though his gates, saw what appeared to be a naked woman covered in blood, and they rushed in, suspecting a crime of passion.

and it was. :|

octopi are intelligent enough to have individually unique personalities, as well as do things like open screw-top lids on jars to get at food inside.

George C. Scott portrayed Patton very well physically. But not vocally. Patton's actual voice was thin, and higher in pitch than Scott's gravelly bass.

Bonus Fact: Patton frequently used the 'F-Bomb' in his speeches, but movies in the early 70's weren't allowed to use such language. That's why in the opening speech Scott uses the word 'fornicating'.

at the time the movie was released in 1969, only one Hollywood movie filming at the time got away with using the F word, and that was M*A*S*H. and the real patton had an absurdly alto voice compared with his comparatively severe countenance. the first choice [rod steiger]'s voice was somewhat closer. and forget about lee marvin.
