It's complicated. It depends on both the people and the situation. I'm very hard to offend and I'm indifferent to most people. I'm not one to care about the opinions of someone whose opinions don't matter to me. When I say not care,I mean I won't take them to heart, but I will still know they're hostile and that will make me dislike them. (Unless we're talking about someone lashing out in anger, in which case I can be very understanding because I have done so myself occasionally and know it's just frustration, but that will depend again on who they are). But just because I don't generally care about their opinion doesn't mean I'm gonna set myself up for a negative feedback, so I'll avoid doing things that are likely to make me get one. I'd rather be left alone than be told how terrible I am. But I'm also very stubborn and not likely to change and especially not under pressure.
But those I actually care about have the power to hurt me. I care about the opinions of those whose opinions I value.
