-Sahara, Gracie, and Katrina are all male characters in the Japanese version of Animal Crossing. They were changed to girls in the North American version due to their feminine appearance.
-Mario's (Jumpman's) girlfriend in Donkey Kong was once only referred to as "the lady" in the original arcade game. She was later named Pauline, which was a common name for the damsel in distress in old B&W movies. Even so, Mario has never had to rescue her from being tied to railroad tracks. 
-Tomatoes were once used only as ornamental plants in the US because people thought the fruit was toxic due to it being in the same family as deadly nightshade. Thomas Jefferson ate tomatoes while in Paris and sent some seeds to the US, which may be what made people decide to start eating them.
-Captain Kirk never actually said "Beam me up, Scotty".
-Many types of beans, such as kidney and Lima beans, are poisonous, sometimes fatally so, if eaten raw. This is one of the reasons I don't want to eat homemade baked beans, because I'm scared they're not fully cooked.
-The Seven Dwarfs did not have names or personalities in the original story of Snow White. They were given their famous names by the Disney Company.
-Walt Disney was probably no more antisemitic or racist than most Americans during the time.
-H.P. Lovecraft was very antisemitic, yet he got married to a Jewish woman. Even afterwards he would still say bad things about Jewish people, then be gently reminded by his wife whom he slept with.
-Walt Disney was a heavy smoker and died of lung cancer.
-Sigmund Freud died of mouth cancer. He smoked a lot of cigars.
