Different artist. Paul Kidby did the one in the avatar. I've forgotten who did Where's my Cow? Ah, Melvyn Grant. I think Vimes looks a little too friendly in it. I know Pratchett had a younger Pete Postlethwaite in it, but I thought of him as a bit more hardened like Paul Kidby's "Dirty Harry" look.

Well, I'd argue that for ranchers and such, the topic is one oft discussed.

And the animals themselves don't seem to regard it as a private matter.

My PE used to call me a shetland
pony. In part because of my shaggy
hair.
