I'd like to say whole wheat, but sadly I have cravings for the 'white death'. (I can't do strawberries either)

Elvis or Elton?

In general I'd say Elton, but I love the nostalgia of some Elvis songs that my father played.

Should I be Mrs. Garfunkel or Mrs. Osbourne?

Mrs. Robinson followed me throughout life. I heard it spontaneously (on the radio) every time something important was happening in my life, good or bad, for at least 30 years. It was uncanny. That makes it extremely sentimental but then Sound of Silence is just so ... so ... perfect.

Robinson for sentiment, Sound for beautifulness?

Sound Of Silence is an exquisite work by any standards, but for me it has to be Mrs Robinson. Probably reinforced by the visual reminiscence of Anne Bancroft in the film. What more can I say? (not much - ed).

Dustin Hoffman or Robert Di Niro?

Would you believe I never saw the film Mrs. Robinson?

Also I barely know the difference between Hoffman and De Niro other than a vague impression of their faces. I think maybe De Niro had more interesting roles although I can't name any. I'm not much for movies.

A little emotion to go with your slosh. This is an incredible performance.

Probably Hoffman, as I quite enjoyed The Graduate and Midnight Cowboy, whereas the only De Niro film I can recall was Taxi Driver, which was interesting nonetheless. Annoyed at myself for misspelling his name in the previous post btw, bloody alcohol huh?

Xmas or Easter?

That's funny! I thought I misspelled!

I love Christmas and Easter. Christmas is a sensory and extremely nostalgic time of ritual for me, but I like Easter for religious reasons as well. I'm old school and still attend Anglican mass and observe Lent.

I very much like the aesthetics and atmosphere of Xmas, just don't like the practicalities, ie 2 or 3 days of things shutting down, then going through it all again for the New Year. At least with Easter it all passes a bit quicker, even if the package as a whole is somewhat less striking. Hope that doesn't come over as unduly cynical.

Truth is, I really dislike Public Holidays, weekends, or any disruption whatever to the basic routine of everyday life (even if I find it difficult or impossible to relate to concepts like 'everyday life'.... :?).

Bob Hope or George Burns?

I agree! I think the solution is to nix New Year's so that Christmas isn't followed so quickly by another holiday. I observe the 12 Days of Christmas until Epiphany or Orthodox Christmas so it's odd to me that there's a drinking party in the midst of this.

I don't like shops shutting or routines changing either, including weekends, but it would be OK if it were only Christmas and Easter.

Bob Hope. My grandparents in LA loved him so I remember him well.

Yes, I'll go along with Bob Hope, if only because I know nothing of George Burns. Was actually a bit surprised to find out a few years ago that Bob was in fact a Brit (from Eltham in London), and as someone who was for a time a golfing fanatic, I was interested in his founding of the 'Bob Hope Classic', about which I know very little however, including the question of whether it still takes place...

Port or Sherry?
