The Drifters' output was very solid, but I think The Stylistics' Rockin Roll Baby and Stone In Love were a notch above any of the former group's songs. Can't think of any other stuff the Stylistics did, mind you.

Procrastinate for bit trying to decide whether you even have a favourite or not, decide that you don't, go through the colours of the rainbow a few times, give up on that, then try to rack your brains for whatever you said last time, because you know that "I don't have one" is, for some inexplicable reason, a completely unacceptable answer?

Monarchy or Elected President?

The Royals obviously derive their position from dubious origins, and are a bit absurd with their enormous wealth and lifestyles disconnected from the general public. But having a president would probably be worse - either he or she would have real political power, as in the USA or France, which would mean more bloody politics, lying, broken pledges etc (no thanks), or it would be a purely ceremonial post, in which case you'd get all sorts of 'celebrities' etc standing (President Beckham? President Fry? No thanks). So I'm happy to stick with our monarchy.

Edit: I almost forgot, you'd be even more likely to end up with President Branson. No, No, NO!


Cannabis - Legalized or Not?

in my state it is legal within limits. went to a legal pot shop one time, there are 3 in my little town. all of 'em have a munchies truck parked outside. i was shocked at the vastly inflated prices compared to the illicit market. a medible chocolate drop cost 4 blinkin' dollars! just ONE little chocolate drop [infused with THC]. out of curiosity i bought one and ate it, and it did practically nothing. a rip-off. anyways, i digress, of course i like it legal medicate me!

Hmmm...well, one of the strongest growing and most vocal movements in this country is Right-Wing 'Libertarianism', which would like to see not only cannabis legalized, but also every other drug - ecstasy, heroin, cocaine, etc. I really wouldn't want to see that sort of scenario get its foot in the doorway, and it's not as if there are many (or any) penalties for possession of dope in this country anyway (it's commonplace to smell it on the streets, and I see quite a few younger people walking around looking really out of it). I once ate a 'spacecake' in Amsterdam only a couple of hours before leaving the place, and I didn't know what day it was on the train journey to the ferry terminal - I'm surprised they allowed me on the boat.

Fidel Castro or Hugo Chavez?

but just think, if it were legal there you could take a trip without even leaving home
i think the Venezuelans did better under chavez than the cubans under castro. btw, i almost typed "castrol"

I don't know enough about the actual living conditions in those countries. I always thought Castro was the more stylish figure though.
