Here's why I do not drink to excess:

So, I was in Guatemala. My first week there. This particular day some European volunteers and I had gone on an outing to a historical Mayan site. It had been a fabulous day except for this one young German named Ronny who kept breaking the Spanish/English only rule and speaking in German so that half of us could not understand him. For this and other reasons, by the time we got back to Antigua, my opinion of Ronny was very low. He was rude, annoying, and not nearly as good looking at he seemed to think.

Later that evening I followed the others into a bar, having never set foot in one before. Long story short, after a mere one and a half Cuba Libres, some giggly conversation, and a walk down the street to a dance club, I caught myself thinking, "This Ronny... :D ... he's so funny and handsome! ... 8O "

Suddenly I was feeling quite sober and even a little wiser.

Yeah...I'm not even going to bother with telling just one of the stories I have about why drinking to excess is bad. A picture is worth 1000 words.

That's also far from the worst thing that's happened.

I was dumb, it was college (not a valid excuse...but everyone else uses it...so...yeah), that's in the past.

Hah, like I said, there's a big difference between having a drink or two and drinking heavily.

So how many young men manage to convince you that they're cute when you drink that much?

Men? None.

A few stupid things that can happen when that drunk:
becoming ill
passing out (This can vary. One example is passing out in the apartment across the hall from yours. Yeah, I've done that. Apparently one of the last things I said was "I'm Spiderman.")
thinking that you and the guy you're walking around with would be wise to just start shouting "f**k DA POLICE" as you walk from the 7-11 back to the bar.

I've done that sort of thing while sober, it merely caught me off-guard because I didn't even remember watching Spiderman with the guy that lived there, let alone saying that. I woke up on his floor the next morning thoroughly confused, as I was five feet from my apartment, and probably twenty from my own bed.
