Ieyasu!


(It's a first name actually, but a famous one.

Ieyasu Tokugawa was the founder and first shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate of Japan, which ruled the country from 1600 until 1868 (also known as the Edo period. This by and large equals the period of sakoku or 'locked country' (1633 - 1853) during which no foreigner could enter nor could any Japanese leave the country on penalty of death).

In short, without him there would be no geishas or samurais, probably no sushi … no many many other things one automatically thinks of when 'Japan' is mentioned. So a name worth a mention :) )
