Although thinking about it, your quote above does sound like my housework. :P

We might be misunderstanding. Maybe Krabo also tells people not to hoover over his shoulder while he's reading. :P

I used to have an old German lady as a neighbour when I was a kid. She spoke almost no English. She always called her lawnmower "a hoover", because it was a hover mower. 8)

Hehe, having to go Hoover the lawn sounds even funnier!

Right. If I say this, if I say that. It will always be some queer variant of what I have learnt to be mid-Atlantic dialect.

Think about it. Not only have I learnd English, I was forced to learn British English and American English. And they are all ... how do you say it ... there must be a word .... tell me when you find one.

The transatlantic dialect form of English is quite different, even different words have different meanings, some which make sense and others which don't. As for pronunciation... different leagues altogether! Where else would you go visit your "ant"? :D

Examples: boot and trunk (of a car), cupboard / closet, tap / faucet, petrol / gasoline.

In S Africa we tend to go more with British words, but have a few unique words of our own. Traffic lights are called "robots" here for some reason, and a cinema used to be called a "bioscope" in the old days of cumbersome reels.

Likewise, Australia and NZ have developed their own variations of English.

Oh no, you're ok. I just had a moment with the time difference there. I thought you were drinking vodka at 7.30am.

Well, you seem to be standing on your head quite early in the morning. Sometimes Moomin looks like she fell during an attempt at pole dancing....

Here it is now 9.40 pm and I've just had some coffee.

You know, once in primary school I was so sure I'd impress the teacher with my lovely pic of the Good Samaritan. Only problem was, she wasn't impressed.
"How can you have a duck sitting on a pond in the middle of the desert?" she wanted to know.
('twas just next to the road in all its glory...)
