Wrongplanet about a month ago was moved to a new server and much more stable... Its not as stable now... don't want get into much detail with the story.

Unfortunately, some of the members were unfortunate and had their avatars chewed while the process was happening.
That issue has been fixed and now you can upload a new one without any faults.
