David Hume fact



David Hume applied for a teaching position at Edinburgh university. The local clergy didn't like the idea of Hume teaching there, since they thought he was an atheist. So it was that Hume was not given the position, a move which the university now deeply, deeply regrets (seriously, philosophy lecturers at Edinburgh seem to bring it up at the start of every lecture they give involving the man).

As a sort of consolation prize, there is a 13 story building in the campus called David Hume Tower. Most people seem think it an eye-sore.

Saw your picture, McTell (freshly dropped in the 'post a picture') and based on it I'd say you won but maybe best I'd stop talking about hair length for it doesn't matter really.
