What does it mean to win though? One poster wins, then another wins after them. One nation conquers another just to be conquered later.

In countries like America, the temporary peace may last for many generations. Such as there not being a full blown war on U.S. soil since the Civil War in the mid 1800's. That's why events like Pearl Harbor or 9/11 cause Americans to go berserk; an act of aggression which is nearly an everyday occurrence in a country isn't as noticed by the populous as one which usually doesn't occur within a lifetime.
