Anglesey: a fairly large island (population c. 70,000) off the North-West coast of Wales, connected to the mainland by the Menai Suspension Bridge, which was built in 1826 by the legendary engineer Thomas Telford. It was a major centre of Druid activity in pre-Roman times. The majority of the population speak the Welsh language, and English too, of course.
