Butterflies are nice, but I'm not keen on their offspring which take delight in eating my green vegetables. While I don't mind sharing the veg to a certain extent with the wildlife I dislike caterpillars in broccoli and cauliflower because they are a pain to find and clean out before cooking. I don't like finding cooked caterpillars inside my veg!

Cabbage worms are a major pest!

I don't have those... or they are called something else. The only pests I get with cabbage are slugs, snails and caterpillars. Pigeons tend to steal the whole plant when they are seedling size. The veg garden is netted off (with buried netting) to keep rabbits out.

Yes. They are from the cabbage-white butterfly. Are they what you call cabbage worms?
