What animal would you like as your daemon?

With reference to The Golden Compass, what animal would you choose as your daemon if you could be in an alternate reality and could pick the species of your soul /constant shadow?

Difficult choice for me, but I'd probably choose a Red Panda or a Raccoon. But there are so many to pick from. Fictional animals e g dragons or centaurs count too.

Despite all the lovely and awesome animals there are, real and fictional, it's still an easy choice for me. Definitely a turtle. If I had to pick a particular turtle species it would be hard.
