RazorEddie, I agree with you. You expressed what I was thinking but wasn't sure how to word, including the bit about Aspies doing the research. Thank you for that.
My concern would be if an ASC patient got flustered during the appointment and, not being able to think clearly, answered too many questions the wrong way.
One would hope that once referred the patient would be sent the full AQ and EQ to return before an appointment was made. This would allow a more effective pre-screening by the diagnostician.
This was the case for me, I am now diagnosed AS.

Would be very helpful.

I'm in the same area, lol, am trying to find out atm so will let you know... Haven't had much input round here though, was seeing a psychologist for something else and she brought up the idea of AS but said I'd probably have to go to Cambridge. I didn't want a diagnosis at the time so didn't pursue it, but am thinking of maybe following it up, mainly because of work problems (tried to train as a teacher but it didn't work out, found it really hard).

That is a possibility. The Nice recommendations do give the doctor the discretion to refer a patient even if they don't score above the threshold.

Yes, the full AQ and EQ would be appropriate then. The AQ10 is just to help your GP make a decision for referral. Once referred, more detailed tests are needed.
