it has been my experience that these meetups benefit from good moderation.

Definitely. I went to my first (and only) Aspergers meet-up a few months ago. Everyone seemed nice enough, and despite being a small group there was more diversity than I would have expected ... except for the fact that all the participants were males in their 20's, like me.

The co-ordinator was nice, too. But the whole meeting had no real structure, which I found a bit awkward, and the conversation towards the end felt kinda forced. It was really nice to finally meet people like me, but I decided not to go back. Shame, as it's the only support group I know of in my city.

At least the people on this site are also equally like me – something I've come to really appreciate. :)
